I managed to get up and out and on the road to Clemmons in good enough time, considering I had lots more going on with jersey discussions with the artist, a board meeting and general membership meeting of the NCActive.org group (NCATA), a possible trip to Georgia on my mind, and more to consider, including the Tour to Tanglewood finish line and Carolina Century volunteer arrangements. So I grabbed the Cafe Bustelo and Oatmeal with dried cranberries and rushed out the door.

We had five Roadskater.net skaters and at least one Roadskater.net cyclist at the Greensboro Paceline Bicycles training ride for T2T. It was a nice day out with no rain but plenty of shade for much of the time. All five of us went for the longer, 29-mile, option, wishing for a bit more, even.

Our 9th official skating of the 87-mile Athens to Atlanta Roadskate (not including two unofficial traverses in 2005) was on a warm and sunny day one might have expected a month or so earlier. I knew I'd be feeling the muscle cramps in my quads eventually but that didn't stop me from being overly excited at some points early on.

I'm working my way through hundreds of photos from Athens to Atlanta weekend. Here's what I have for the Friday Night Skate:

Once the tropical storm/hurricane Hanna had passed on through during what would have been the Saturday morning ride to Tanglewood, the Roadskater.net Team had to decide whether to get in our cars and ride to Tanglewood or hit the roads and burn some calories. We decided to do 48.5 miles on our skates and bikes on a route of supersweet asphalt north of Greensboro.

Bicycle Toy & Hobby Sales gaves us a great skate and ride last weekend, even considering some rough road (not the worst gatorback by far, but not as great as the rest) on the spur out to and around Abbotts Creek. We had nice skaters, 4 veterans of T2T and 5 who have yet to experience the glorious weekend...but most plan to.

Paul's Cycling & Fitness is hit or miss, I guess I'd say, over the years, when it comes to Tour to Tanglewood Training Rides. I have to say it has mostly been a good experience, but with some exceptions that make it hard to get out of bed and go there for the training ride. A few years back, the route was so disappointing we quit early and drove back to Greensboro Country Park to skate. Usually it has just been one or two signs that they don't see this as the same opportunity that some shops seem to.

The Paceline Bicycles Greensboro Bike Ride and Inline Skate was a fun, if relatively short (around 28 miles or so...I turned my Garmin Forerunner 305 on a bit late), training ride for the Tour to Tanglewood.
