We had a fine day out, eebee and myself, from mighty hot to excitingly electric weather. Lots to tell but who knows if I'll find the time. Meanwhile here are 410 photos that are geolocated on a Google Earth KMZ file.
We got started around midday when it was getting hot indeed. We drove to Piedmont, AL, where there's a Welcome Center. We planned to skate the 40 miles down and back to the Anniston, AL end, eat some sandwiches and have cool drinks at the car, then do the 27 miles or so out and back to the trailhead of the Silver Comet at the state line with GA.

Here it is.......New Year's Eve 2008, and time to plan for 2009 skating events.
A quick check shows:
- Great EsSkate in Miami FLA on the weekend starting Friday 2/6/09;
- Tdk in Denton NC on Saturday 6/20/09;
- A2A
in Athens GA on Sunday 10/11/09;
- T2T
as TBA; (plus training skrides)
- Carolina Century as TBA
As the premier online inline group :-) could we get more indepth confirmation on the above and add to the list with any and all events?

Some have asked if there's a way to help Roadskater.net other than donating money, and here is one that won't cost anything. In general, if you plan to buy anything on ebay.com or amazon.com, if you can visit roadskater.net and do the first search from the sidebar ebay and amazon search boxes, that helps (especially if you end up joining ebay and buying or selling something not long afterward).

For those who don't know we had 8 skaters (4 from Georgia, 4 from NC) and 57 cyclists at the inaugural Roadskater.net Carolina Century (carolinacentury.com), which raised $1025 after expenses. The proceeds will be donated in the names of the volunteers to the MS society (or at their option to select charity cycling events that benefit individuals with sudden catastrophic challenges in their lives).

Today or yesterday was the beta release of Google Chrome, a fast new browser that's free to download and use. At first blush it seems snappier than even Firefox 3. If you're using Internet Explorer, I recommend you get Firefox 3 and Google Chrome and look at both. If you have Firefox 3, Chrome is still worth a look:

The Paceline Bicycles Greensboro Bike Ride and Inline Skate was a fun, if relatively short (around 28 miles or so...I turned my Garmin Forerunner 305 on a bit late), training ride for the Tour to Tanglewood .

You don't have to be a member to order a jersey. You don't have to order a jersey to be on the team, but...the order deadline is now extended for preorders to 9 a.m. EDT (6 a.m. PDT) Thursday July 17, 2008. After that, the price may be higher for any extras on hand. Celebrate roadskating with skateylove, and share the road on your skates or bike for charity in your Roadskater.net jersey!

Hey! Here's something I hope will be fun. We're going to have a monthly Skateylove contest with a prize winner selected by drawing (or computer simulation thereof). Were I rich, we'd have amazing prizes. I'm not, so we'll do what we can!
Here's how it'll work:

Just a quick note to say sorry RSN was down a while. I had a power supply burn out and take along his mother on the way out. Thanks to timv for assistance in the effort to deny it was really dead with various parts to test.
Thanks to tax day for making it all more pressure-packed, and to the USPS folk who were NOT THERE when I arrived with my usual at my usual 11:45 p.m. celebratory time. Sad. Bad enough to not have Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee. Worse still to see a lobby and parking lot full of people wondering what's up with that?

Someone asked how to post a message on Roadskater.net, so here's a brief explanation. Once you've registered for the site...all you have to do to post a message (questions, blogs about skating, or anything really) is sign in and look at the left column for 'create'. Hover your cursor over the grey arrow and go to 'blog' or 'forum topic'. Click on that and start typing! Look below for the 'submit' button, click it and you're done.
Happy A2A everyone :-)

Roadskater.net (RSN1 .net and RSN2 .com) is free. You don't have to pay anything to use the site, to join, to view the articles without joining, or to be part of our inline skating, cycling and charity exercise team. You don't have to buy a jersey that says Roadskater.net or anything else. However, often people have wanted to know how to help, so here are a few ways. All are voluntary and are totally free to you, unless you decide to make a donation....
