I'm still not ready to write about the Carolina Century in all its glory, but I have published almost a thousand more photos from both the 2009 Carolina Century and the Today We Ride for Dave 2009 David Sherman Memorial Ride, so I wanted to share those links.

I can promise better weather for the 3rd annual Carolina Century! It was epic. The Carolina Century photos are a good way to see part of the route, with trees, barns, horses, llamas, a few people and lots of mist inside and outside the lens.

The date for the next SkateStrong workshop has been decided, and it is:  Saturday, March 28th. Information on workshop can be found at:  http://www.skatestrong.com/

For those that don't know, the workshop is a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis Society -- 100% of the money goes to MS Society. It's for all levels, beginner to advanced. The content will vary a bit depending on who actually attends.

For those who don't know we had 8 skaters (4 from Georgia, 4 from NC) and 57 cyclists at the inaugural Roadskater.net Carolina Century (carolinacentury.com), which raised $1025 after expenses. The proceeds will be donated in the names of the volunteers to the MS society (or at their option to select charity cycling events that benefit individuals with sudden catastrophic challenges in their lives).

(A nod to timv who brought up the Woody Allen movie, Hannah and Her Sisters, when we were discussing the storm at dinner somewhen.)

You don't have to be a member to order a jersey. You don't have to order a jersey to be on the team, but...the order deadline is now extended for preorders to 9 a.m. EDT (6 a.m. PDT) Thursday July 17, 2008. After that, the price may be higher for any extras on hand. Celebrate roadskating with skateylove, and share the road on your skates or bike for charity in your Roadskater.net jersey!

..to thank Blake for all of the countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears he's put into skating, it's promotion and this web site. While I've always been enthusiastic about the sport, even in some of my darker, non-skating hours, Blake has constantly pushed, promoted, cajoled, and encouraged those around him literally, and through this medium to enjoy it to the maximum and invite others to do the same.

I am teaching the next SkateStrong workshop on Saturday, July 19th, 2008. Normally, I'd point everyone to the website for details, but the power supply on my webserver (which was just replaced 4 months ago) has died again! So, rather than wait for the replacement to be shipped to me, I thought I should get the word out now so that people can plan accordingly.

 

The 2007 Tour to Tanglewood was my ninth, all on skates, all including both days. The Roadskater.net team was 36 members, 18 on skates, from NC, GA, MI, NJ and NJ (born in USA, Canada, Netherlands and UK). We were missing a few regulars because of the North Shore Inline Marathon in Duluth, MN and for other reasons. I hope you like the 420 photos that made it through editing!

Here's another event, and this one's important if you can manage a reply, so I can plan for dinner. Things may change but as it stands we'll shoot for being at Lucky 32 by 6:45. The main thing to reply about is "will you attend the team dinner this year, wherever or whenever it happens to be?" The team dinner, like the Prologue Skride, is optional and open, but may not be too interesting to those not skating or riding or visiting the tour. You may add invitees to either RSVP. Let me know ASAP! I'll have the jerseys at dinner as well.

Hi all. Life takes over sometimes, eh? Well with a little less than 3 weeks to go before Tour to Tanglewood 2007 we heard that 1300 riders and skaters are registered already. As for our team, we are up to 24 members with more surely about to sign up. Some of us even have some contributions turned in, and we have two clear leaders in the contest. This includes just items turned in to the website or office already, and is not indicative of donations many have received directly.
