Skate the Greensboro 200th Anniversary (Bicentennial) Torch Relay?

I don't have a lot of info on this but i found some mapmyride.com info. I'm finally well enough to think I could do this...
Thu and Fri March 27 and 28 at 4p there are some torch relays with runners and some slow cyclists and perhaps others in celebration of the start of Greensboro's 200th Anniversary (Bicentennial) celebration.
I haven't asked anyone permission and won't until I get there, but especially if someone will go along, I'd like to do these as a way of getting some skaters into the mix of runners, walkers and cyclists. Of course I'd love to get the skaters and RSN logo on the tele, ha. I doubt they'd let us carry the torch and don't need the pressure actually. This will be very slow rec skating just for fun and to show our support for this community event. It's great that Greensboro is generating buzz for downtown life.
On second thought, if anyone's interested i will try to contact greensoro200.com folk to see that people are in fact coming along with the torch relay as was my impression. If we showed up and that's not what's happening we could cheer them off, go skate at country park, then even go to the finish to cheer them in...or go watch basketball! So let me know if you have an interest and I'll try to do some research if you need me to.
Day 3 Thursday 8.44 miles
Thu starts from Dana Auditorium at Guilford College i believe.

Day 4 Friday 6.5 miles
Fri starts from the Guilford Battleground and goes along the greenway toward town then onto the streets. I'll start just outside the national military park, probably on the street, Old Battleground Road, which runs through but is not part of the park. I don't expect any problems as the route does not include a loop of the park.

There should be great police coverage at intersections and I believe it will be super relaxed and fun. If not we'll leave and go to Greensboro Country Park for some fun laps there. The only hassle might be getting back to the car each day before dark, but I'm not really worried about it. Skate it or take a bus.
If it's just me, I might not even go, but it's going to be great weather for skating somewhere methinks, and I think these are good routes. Friday will probably have the busiest, and if I do just one alone it'll probably be that one. There should be lots of people (kids especially) around to see the lighting of the cauldron, as I think they're calling it. It's a cool ripoff of the Olympic torch idea, but a really nice way to keep a long term focus on an event.
Let me know if you want to go! Skateylove, roadskater
