Events will begin immediately following NCC/Alcatel Sunday Bikedays.

21 km half marathon

2 km kid’s race
The festival events will get underway at 1 pm in the afternoon. Race kit pick up will begin at 9 am until 12 noon same day.
Please note: the events will take place rain or shine. In case of lightning, start times may be amended.
Multiple races
We've designed the schedule of events so that participants can skate or watch several races during this jam-packed day. Starting with the 10k at 1:20pm, means those skaters who wish to get more distance in can skate in at least 2 events, e.g. the 10k and 42k (starting at 2:10pm) or the 10k and 21k (starting at 4:05). Fast skaters looking for a great workout and lots of distance can even make it three (e.g. 10k, 42k, and 21k). Similarly, the family race participants can add either the 10 km or the 21 km to their experience. Each race will be officially timed by Sports Stats timing chips and custom race bibs will be created for each participant.
The Course
Colonel By Drive in down town Ottawa will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the races. All races will start and finish at the same location. Skaters will skate counter clock wise on the road, i.e. in the "right" direction. All races will have a 180 degree turnaround on the road. Pavement is generally in good condition.
Awards
All finishers receive participation medals.
Marathon: top 3 overall male and female receive prize money ($125 first place, $100 second and $75 third)
Half-marathon and 10km; top 3 overall male and female receive merchandise

History
See reports from our 2005 Festival here: http://www.inlineottawa.com/festival/reports.htm
Since September 2001, we have held the X-Endurance training weekend where skaters came together to skate up to 140 km over 2 days. By 2004 we advanced to a full-fledged marathon race plus additional training opportunities. Ever evolving, we have reincarnated the X-endurance weekend in the Ottawa Inline Skating Festival where the whole family, from kids to serious racers, comes together to celebrate our sport and test their fitness and racing abilities.
Organizers
The Ottawa Inline Skating Club was founded in 2000 as a non-profit club established to meet the needs of recreational, fitness and speed skaters alike. It is a club run by members for members. The Club has hired the services of Somersault Promotions to assist with the event production of the Ottawa Inline Skating Festival. We owe special thanks as well to our partners and sponsors for their support of the Festival.
Thanks for your help in spreading the word!
