My series of Bonts has been comical... It resulted from incorrect sizing advice from a well-intentioned discount retailer. I started off with 9.5 Jets, which I did almost a thousand miles in. After admitting that those just weren't working for me, I moved to 8.5 SR, on the assumption that my technique and form just weren't up to the demands of a lower cut boot. Eventually I realized that I had indeed screwed up yet again: not only did the structure of the SR limit forward ankle flex and thus knee bend, but they were still too large. So after doing well over a thousand miles as well as my first race (Texas Road Rash) in them, I broke down and ordered a pair of Size 8 Jets. And thus was my Cindarella story complete: after a few heat mouldings these things fit so well that they feel slightly loose when barefoot, but the thinnest socks on the market (Wigwam Triathlon) make them way too snug. If only I had dealt with Glenn Koshi the first time... Not only would I had saved a bunch of money (despite paying more for my first pair) but my development as a speedskater would probably be a year further along. As I always say at work when management is trying to be penny wise and pound foolish: "The cheap stuff always costs more."
