I'm going to try to add an event listing each day for the training rides as long as I can keep going at it. I'll go in order and try to recall some of the good and bad of what each shop does and the routes they offer (that we've done). So I'll be adding a separate listing for each training ride with map and address info.

Anyone who can add events, please please yes do. Even a simple one is helpful to remind us that Philly, say, is on the way. Thanks to all who've helped on this.

Skating or bicycling event organizers (and other human powered types), please join and post for the Google-wide web to find you.

Thanks for taking the time to join and write. I'm glad you found some photos of someone dear who is still alive in photos, recordings and others' lives. Please do us all the favor of writing now and then about your cycling and other exercise experiences, or life ones. If you can put up with Cliff, you can probably put up with us. Glad you like the photos enough for the myspace page!

Do you know if there was a ride up on Air Harbor today, like a GVC thing? We did 51 out Lake Brandt, Haynes, Angell, Baggage, Bethany, Baker's Crossroads, Vaughn (I think), Sandy Cross, Woolen Store, Church, Air Harbor...on our skates. Our feet are hurting!

I just wanted to let you know that I sincerely appreciate the pics that you put up. It was exciting to see a pic of myself and I used 080823082538.jpg for my myspace page. I also got to see some photos of my friends from last year's TTT and of my friend D'Anne who died shortly after that.

Your welcome Mike. I skated in a lot of them last year with Blake and others. They were ALL well supported and the courses were very well thought out. It was kind of cool to see the cops stopping traffic so we could go through some intersections.

Thanks Elizabeth. I thought maybe if everyone who comes to roadskater saw the list they might be able to mark their calenders. Maybe we can increase skater presence at the training rides.
I always enjoyed them as my long skate for the week. They were much better supported than I could for myself. Starbucks sounds great!

Thanks for posting the training ride dates in one place Andy. I'm looking forward to hanging out in a post-training-ride daze wearing strange clothes (skate shorts & jersey) in a Starbucks, knowing I've earned some rich food from that morning's 30 mile skate.

I had an incredible ride home, as I think I indicated, and as can be seen from the photo of the partially-consumed pie. Once everyone was gone from the bike shop, or close to it, I ambled over to Sir Pizza, scene of many happy visits in a portion of my youth where my family would drive from several miles away for a night out to eat.

This being usually a once-per-year-or-less treat (at Sir Pizza, I mean, as Elizabeth's on Lawndale is more like once-per-week-if-we-skated), I decided to get the biggest pizza they had, with the ground (not sliced) pepperoni. Once it was ready, I asked for some cheese and pepper to go, but what they gave me were packages I thought would be not worth the effort.

I went into the restaurant eat-in section and took the top off of a parmesan cheese dispenser and sprinkled, yeah varily dumped, cheese among all of the wonderful, hot, pepperoni grease on top of the pizza. This accounts for the wonderful color variations between pale yellow, dark red and the blend, the good stuff. Then I think I added red pepper but I am not certain, and I don't see any in the photo. I may have decided just to taste the creation without the extra fire, as it was tasty already with the awesome pepperoni and other quality ingredients.

I can say proudly I ate the whole thing...but not on the way home. I probably ate 3/4 of the edges or maybe all the way around on the way home, then a bit more upon arrival, and snackies later and for breakfast. Yum!

That pizza in the last photo sure looks good! I wish I could have joined you for some of it but I was getting pretty sleepy and I don't think I could have. Always fun to see photos of the scenery and the smiling faces out there on the road.

That's good to hear! Thanks. You night owl skaters'd be well suited for the Montreal 24 hr skate. Sleep from 5am - 11.30am, get up, skate through the pm and early am, and then go to bed at 2pm! You'd have an advantage over someone like me who starts hallucinating by 2am if not yet asleep...

We missed having you there, Elizabeth. A lot of bicyclists asked where you were. The roads could have been better (less busy streets in town, smoother smoother surface out of) and I was pretty worn out afterward--staying up all night to be at the starting time didn't help there--but it was ok and I'm glad I made it out.

Panera food and wifi

In reply to 2 eggs 2 slices of bacon and 2 pancakes for $2.32; Plus Panera Sweet Tea & Free Wifi:

I love Panera's food (Mediterranean veggie is great) and their hazlenut coffee - prices are reasonable too. The wifi has been a mixed bag at some places around Raleigh / Cary. Some places seem to always have extremely poor wifi, while it works great at others.

Great job on these photos! I bet many cyclists will be happy to see themselves in good quality shots, where they're not just a dot cycling away on the horizon. Way to get plenty of shots before we fell off the back for the rest of the ride :-).
