I just browsed through one of this year's Swedish A2A skater's online scrapbook:  http://www.ulfhaase.se/ . I think Danny must've been skating with these guys for a while. Fast people! These guys also checked over the course beforehand. Pretty much all the European A2A skaters I've ever talked to have said that Silver Hill is not as scary as people make it out to be. I think it's probably better that way around! Still, it's like anticipating anything really, from a party to a sequel of a blockbuster movie: the more excited you are ahead of time, the more likely it is to be unremarkable.

cool, yep, we were in the same pack! it was chaos at the end as we were all screaming at each other to stay back from the 3 top women so they could duke it out without any interference.

Yes! I did see the mirror idea! Beats having to rely on someone hanging out the back of the truck taking a movie, or Eddy Matzger having fun taping you after he already crossed the finish line backwards twenty times before you got there. I also enjoyed Ulf's photos of the Rhein-Main area skate and would LOVE to go do that one. Didn't know about it until I saw those photos.

Uh Oh Vintage Cameras I See

I note that http://www.ulfhaase.se also has a section of vintage cameras, including some medium format and some smaller range-finder devices if I am correct. Plus there's a photo of a Nizo Allmat 2, which I take to be a mechanically wound 16mm or similar movie camera with a pistol-grip handle. Sweet stuff. I know nothing on this subject, really, but I know timv has at times dabbled in russian-made cameras, some of them medium format perhaps. It's all a blur but a pleasant one. My first not-a-total-toy photograbber as I recall it was a Yashica 35mm range finder film camera bought in Wilmington, NC. Laugh as you must! I was way behind the curve, but my money had gone into a Martin Herringbone D-28 (HD-28) guitar, which I miss many days, and every time I think of it. I know for sure I have a couple of photos if ulf hasse taking photos (or I took at least two and if they outgeturned they're up on rsn1.net roadskater.net classic (click "photos" above on this site and look for the 2008 a2a pics).

Oh cool, vintage cameras

Yup, Russian 35mm and medium-format, and also some Yashicas and 16mm still cameras and one Krasnogorsk K3 16mm movie camera which I've never gotten around to using. In fact I was shopping for scanners a couple of weekends ago, thinking about maybe dusting off some of the old iron and trying to waste some film again. It's all just been sitting for several years while my ever-so-short-spanned attention has been focused on other things.

I don't have any overlap with Ulf's collection that I noticed. (His stuff is mostly a lot nicer than mine.)

I'm not laughing. I have three or four of them in various versions and they take great pictures. Or, as the one and only Marcy Merrill says, "This camera takes great pictures!"
